Taittinger Collection Salgado 2008 in Giftbox
€150,00 incl BTW: €181,50
|Type of Wine||
The Taittinger Collection first began in 1983 when Claude Taittinger approached his first artist, Hungarian painter Victor Vasarely. The idea was to create a unique bottle design that expressed the style of the 1978 vintage in Champagne. Taittinger Collection Salgado is the 14th Edition of the collection and it was designed by Brazilian artist Sebastião Salgado. The bottle features a leopard drinking from the Barab River Valley in Damaraland, Namibia, captured on camera by Salgado in 2005. The champagne inside is Taittinger Brut Vintage 2008.
Taittinger produce a vintage champagne only when the harvest has been of exceptional quality. Their Brut Vintage is always a blend of juice exclusively from the first pressing of the grapes and is aged for four years in the cellars, allowing the aromas to mature slowly and the length and complexity of the wine to develop. It consists of Chardonnay from Grand Crus of the Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir from Grand Crus of the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne.
Weather: After a rainy but mild winter without any prolonged cold spells, spring arrived with some very localised frosts. Cool weather returned in June and the infrequent sunshine prolonged the feeling of freshness. The spring to autumn weather was bright with sunny spells and the long, hot days and cool nights during September gave the grapes excellent acidity during the harvest period. The 2008 vintage is fast emerging as one of the best since the renowned and now-legendary 2002.
