96 points Wine Spectator: “Dried dark fruit on the nose, verging on date and prune. Full-bodied, with a dense palate of ripe fruit and supersilky tannins. This is a deep and beautiful red, delivering lots of subtle character. Fascinating. One of the undiscovered treasures of the vintage. Best after 2011.
The nose of this wine is ripe and plummy, warm and inviting in a Calistoga sort of way. Plums dominate the palate as the wine’s structure begins to emerge, giving the mid-palate a chunky feel where the tannins become more evident. The tannins begin to lengthen and the wine grows, flavors emerge and then, in a flash, it finishes with a flurry of tannins that muddle the end. This wine definitely has some significant structure and weight; I’d love to know if time will ameliorate the tannins.” Wine is due Late 2009
