Porusot(sometimes spelled “Poruzot” or “Le/s Porusot/s”) is a Premier Cru vineyard of the Meursault appellation in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune sub-region. Located (like so many) on the midslope of the Côte d’Or escarpment, the vineyard enjoys a limestone-predominant terroir that is very well suited to the production of high-quality wines made from Chardonnay.

The 11.4 hectare (28 acre) vineyard is in the central section of the Meursault commune, lying roughly equidistant between the village itself and the highly regarded Perrières and Charmes vineyards to the south, on the border with Puligny-Montrachet.

Porusot itself is divided into three lieu-dits: “Porusot Dessus” (the “upper Porusot”) is a relatively thin strip of east-facing land running down the slope between Les Genevrières to the south and Les Bouchères to the northwest; “Le Porusot” is adjacent to the lower northeastern portion of the Dessus vineyard and runs along the slope, below Les Bouchères; “Porusots Dessous”, the “lower” section, pushes out below the upper section into the village-level climat of Les Crotots on the lower slopes..

At the top of the slope, the limestone bedrock is close to the surface, generally producing the better wines. As is the general rule throughout Burgundy, the topsoil towards the lower section of the Premier Cru is deeper, with a greater clay content – less suited to growing the best grapes.

Nonetheless, the site as a whole is generally considered to strongly merit its Premier Cru status and boasts some well-regarded producers.
